NW Albuquerque home revamped after rough history

Life on 58th Street northwest started out good for Bill Edwards and his young family back in the early 70’s but after a while, the house catty-corner from them became a magnet for crime.
“We’re talking about thievery…neighborhood thievery…breaking in our house – breaking in our sheds in the back,” Edwards said.
Edwards and his neighbors witnessed blatant prostitution, drug deals and violence.
“There wasn’t much you could do but call police and they were out here hundreds of times,” Edwards said.
Finally, police had enough evidence to take action and arrest the people in the house.
About a year and a half ago the city sued the owner who in turn sold the house to Benny Archibeque.
